El Güerito: Leader of ‘Los Chimales’ and the Chief Advisor to ‘Los Chapitos’
In 2016, Canobbio and his brother Jorge Abrahm formed a group called ‘Los Güeritos’ or ‘Los Brontos’ to support Iván Archivaldo following the arrest of ‘El Chapo.’
MEXICO CITY.— Through cargo trailers, one by one, José Ángel Canobbio Inzunza built a multimillion-dollar empire where money flowed in twice—once from the transportation and operation of his legitimate company and again from illegal cargo: fentanyl, cocaine, and marijuana.
Canobbio had remained in the shadows—not in Culiacán, but from U.S. authorities. The charges in the United States for drug trafficking and his association with Los Chapitos were only officially filed on November 4, when Joaquín, Ovidio, ‘El Nini,’ ‘El Chapo,’ and ‘El Mayo’ were already behind bars.
On that day, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Canobbio, along with an indictment detailing ‘El Güerito’s’ criminal activities alongside Iván Archivaldo Guzmán.
“Among other things, Canobbio Inzunza served as the chief advisor, plaza boss, and security chief for Iván Archivaldo Guzmán,” according to the indictment obtained by Pie de Nota.
